School

School

Our warm home grows with children and expands its project with the creation of a School for Preschool and Primary Education, La Estrella del Pez Luna, which opened its doors in September 2017/2018 academic year.

The new school continues with the philosophy that is developed in El Pez Luna, where respect, listening and commitment to the healthy development of children are the motor of our work.

For this new challenge, we begin on the basis of seven years of operation, a team of professionals in the psychological and educational, social and cultural fields and a solid and innovative educational project already in operation at “La Casita del Pez Luna”.

Located in Casa Quemada urbanization in Madrid (Av. Casa Quemada, 5, 28023, Madrid), “La Estrella del Pez Luna” is a beautiful space surrounded by green areas, easily accessible through A6 and M40 roads, either by public (city buses, intercity and suburban) or private transport. A space to put down roots, which offers stability and the possibility of continuity, since a school is a project whose life is designed in the long term and participates and deeply influences the organization of families life, who are part of this “learning community”. Our school is a place to grow, to take care of and to live as if it was our own home because, in fact, it is the home where children come every day to develop their potentials and learning.

La Estrella del Pez Luna is made up of two large and luminous buildings, one of 340 m2 for Preschool and another one of 520 m2 for Primary, all surrounded by a leafy space of more than 5600 m2 in which a ECO dining room and school bus services are offered.

Philosophy and values

Based on the “accompaniment of life processes and personal drifts” through a “Live and Active Pedagogy” that draws from various methodologies (Active Education and Self-taught Learning, Montessori, Rebeca and Mauricio Wild, Creative Education, Waldorf, Psychomotricity Aucouturier and Pikler, Reggio Emilia, Humanist Psychology: Active Listening, Gestalt, etc.), we build from some of the following pillars:

Free and spontaneous play and movement

Daily activity is based on free and spontaneous interaction, movement and play from the limits of coexistence and basic rules. Thanks to this free movement, teacher can really observe and perceive the child and the group, their processes, present characteristics and needs from which spaces and materials are continually conditioned and/or new dynamics, workshop proposals and routines are generated.

Emotional and social education

Our teachers are people with wide experience and training in the development of emotional and social well-being, offering accompaniment and tools of deep value and richness to children and to everyone involved in the project.

Personalized education

Students’ ratio, the pedagogical system and monitoring and communication system we work with allows us to deeply know the child and adapt the development and learning environments to the children who are living at that moment in school.

School as a home Vs. Institution

Our space is not simply a place where we can acquire knowledge and develop academically and intellectually, but a place where we can develop human relationships and, in this way, develop our human potential in its multiple dimensions and in “community”.

Ecological education and connection with nature

Both in experiences within the school (vegetable garden and other prepared environments or dynamics) and in daily outings to parks and natural spaces.

Education in new technologies

A way of approaching new technologies, taken care of and attentive to the needs and languages of children. Electronic robotics and systems games, creativity and technology, among others.

Creative education

Classrooms and teachers prepared to assist, accompany and make possible creative processes through painting, clay and movement.

Neurology and learning

NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming), Subconscious Programming Games for personal power development, Neuro-Education and visualization and meditation techniques, among others.

Languages

Within the educational team with bilingual English language teachers, and with views to covering French.

Commitment

Although the focus and priority objective is on children and providing them an ideal place for them to grow up healthy and happy, we deeply believe that true accompaniment begins with oneself as a father, mother or teacher. Thus, every member of our projects starts from a commitment to grow and change together with children, a commitment to be open to change, to re-learn and transform in the journey we share.
